The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) allowed the Pune based Serum Institute of India with the permission of manufacturing the Russian Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V in India. The Serum Institute of India (SII) has been granted approval to manufacture the vaccine for examination, test and analysis with certain conditions at its licensed facility in Pune. The Pune-based company has collaborated with Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Moscow in Russia to develop Sputnik V in India. After Hetero Biopharma, Gland Pharma, Panacea Biotec, Stelis Biopharma and Virchow Biotech, Serum Institute of India is the sixth pharmaceutical company that will manufacture Sputnik V. This will gradually help the people in India to get the vaccine soon with more options in opting the vaccine for the Covid-19 infection and to fight against the life threatening Corona virus.
